Meet Richard

Richard Wilson at Finsbury Park StationI was elected to represent Stroud Green ward on Haringey Council first in 2006 and then re-elected in 2010, along with my Liberal Democrat colleagues Ed Butcher and Katherine Reece.

As well as Stroud Green, the ward includes parts of Finsbury Park and Crouch End. I live locally on Tottenham Lane (N8) near Crouch End, and before that lived for many years on Woodstock Road (N4) near Finsbury Park Station. I’m out and about regularly across the ward meeting people, delivering our FOCUS newsletter and (when I get chance) using our local shops, cafes and restaurants.

Being a councillor could easily become a full time job, but it isn’t paid as such and I also work part-time for a trade association in central London. I travel to work on the First Capital Connect line, so I am familiar with the issues facing local commuters. In addition, I’m also a Governor of Weston Park Primary School, where I chair the Finance Committee.

At the Town Hall I am a long-standing member the Pensions Committee and have also joined the General Purposes Committee, however the part of the job I enjoy most is making a difference locally – campaigning for improvements in the ward. If you have any issues you’d like me to take up then please do not hesitate to contact me by email, phone or by writing to our freepost address.

Ed, Katherine and I work as a team, and although we are all Liberal Democrats, we’re committed to representing everyone in Stroud Green, regardless of who they vote for.

Stroud Green ward is part of the Hornsey & Wood Green parliamentary constituency, so we also work very closely with Lynne Featherstone, our local Lib Dem MP.
