Many people will have read about the case of the pug dog that was stolen during a daytime burglary in Stapleton Hall Road. Thankfully, Molly the dog was returned to her owners after a twitter campaign – see photo from the local papers. However, at tonight’s local police panel meeting it was revealed that this is no isolated event, and Stroud Green has become a real burglary hot spot.
Our local police sergeant told us the ward is currently averaging one burglary a night and has more burglaries than any other part of Haringey. They are particularly common in the streets around the Parkland Walk (such as Florence and Lancaster Roads) and so the Safer Neighbourhoods Panel has agreed tackling burglaries should be a top police priority.
The local police team do lots to help people make their homes safer and reassure residents and victims, but panel members were concerned that many people do not know their street is in a burglary hot spot. So I thought I’d use my website to help raise awareness. If you want to contact the local Safer Neighbourhoods police team about this or any other issue then their details are here.
The panel also agreed that youth anti-social behaviour around Stroud Green Road and car crime near Stationers Park should be priorities for the local police.
