Locals come together for Remembrance Sunday

November 8th, 2009

Wreaths laid in the Hornsey Church TowerEarlier today I attended the local remembrance service at the gardens by the Hornsey Church Tower.   It was good to see local people coming together to remember those who have died fighting on our behalf, and to see so many wreaths laid (see picture).  With all that is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan the ceremony felt especially relevant this year.   Whatever our views on whether Britain should be involved in these wars (like lots of Stroud Green residents I marched against the Iraq war), I think its really important we remember the sacrifice that many soldiers and their families are making.
